Outreach
Co-President, Women in Chemistry, Caltech
This organization enables opportunities for women in Caltech Chemistry to connect with successful PhD-holding women in academia and industry. Events hosted by the organization include intradepartmental socials, breakfasts & lunches with female faculty speakers, and seminars hosted by invited guest speakers. I managed the organization’s $4,000 (FY2018) and $10,000 (FY2019) annual budget.
Outreach Coordinator, Caltech
Organized visit of over eighty AP Chemistry students from Marshall Fundamental High School in Pasadena, CA. Programming consisted of demonstrations in two active research laboratories, campus tour by Caltech Undergraduate Ambassadors, and college informational provided by Caltech Undergraduate Admissions Office. Students used tablet-enhanced learning through the SKIES software to practice active learning throughout these activities.
Founder, Student Council for Undergraduate Research and Creativity, Florida State University
This organization enables undergraduate involvement in research for all disciplines through: (1) organized peer mentorship initiatives, (2) undergraduate travel grants for academic conferences, and (3) a student-led, peer-reviewed undergraduate research journal. I integrated this organization into our Student Government to secure state funding and by my graduation, it provided $20,000 in travel grants, published four research journals, and included over fifty undergraduate researchers across all disciplines.
Founding President, American Chemical Society, Florida State
I founded this organization to host career-centered events for undergraduates in my department, inviting local businesses to promote nonacademic careers and internships that use chemistry degrees. We interfaced with local businesses and nearby Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and resulting from this programming, undergraduates began research projects in industrial and academic positions.
Tutorial Assistant, CARE Retention Program, Florida State
I served as a mathematics and science tutor for the FSU CARE Program, which provides transition, engagement, and academic support services for traditionally underrepresented and disadvantaged first-generation students at Florida State University.
